This restored 18th century farmhouse is situated in a rural valley near Mt Ventoux in northern Provence, in the ‘preAlps’ east of the Rhône. The house has stunning views of limestone mountains, with a long-distance footpath to the top of Mt Ventoux adjacent to the building. The valley is agricultural: cherries, apricots, and vineyards of the Côtes du Ventoux appellation. Only 10 km away distant are vineyards of the Côtes du Rhône, 20-40 km to the celebrated appellations Gigondas, Vacqueras, and Chateauneuf du Pape. Hike through the extraordinary landscape, visit (and taste) at a Gigondas winery established in 110 AD, visit Roman traces (including Pont du Gard, 1h west), and otherwise explore the region. The nearby village of Malaucene (7 km) has all the essentials: small supermarket, fresh grocer, three bakeries, doctors, vet, a ‘tabac’, a ‘presse’, two bicycle shops, and several delightful cafés and restaurants. The house is located in the valley of Beaumont du Ventoux. It has no through traffic so it’s remarkably quiet, yet still very close to town.
