The Vogelsberg owes its indisputable international reputation to the fact that it is one of the largest extinct volcanoes on earth. The spa town of Schotten is located in the oldest nature park in Hesse, the "High Vogelsberg", which offers all types of relaxation and holiday options. Schotten offers many leisure activities: walking, volcano cycling path, summer alpine slide, Nordic walking, bird park, skiing, sledding, and much more. There are kilometres of cycling and hiking paths which lead through the pristine nature.
